Pillars of Fascism: Rigid Social Hierarchy

This material comes largely from Against Japanism and The Minyan podcast crossover episodes. I'm mostly repeating it from memory, and from digging around myself. Please let me know about errors or misrepresentations.

Rigid Social Hierarchy

Fascism requires "Haves" and "Have-nots". These strata can even be layered and interleaved (see Intersectionality for more on this), but the principle that there's "a natural order" to society. It also requires the use of pseudoscience to justify this (see Eugenics, how language families were expanded to be races, "filthy immigrants", "model minorities", etc). And of course since it's Fascism, it's incumbent on the people to use violence to enforce perceived inversions of this hierarchy. They shot MLK Jr. in the face, and dismantled the Black Panthers, for example.

Palestine and the Jews

Yes, I'm using the term "Jews". I'm Jewish. Israel is overwhelmingly Jewish because non-Jews are essentially not counted as citizens, do not get to participate in governance, and the vast majority of Jews globally support Israel as an ethnostate. 

So, in Palestine, Jews are at the top of the social hierarchy. Not just Jews, Ashkenazi Jews. Other ethnic groups of Jews have been mostly erased, aside from the occasional importing of black Jews to present the illusion of diversity. Much like Israel does with pinkwashing homosexuality.

But Muslims, Christians, Sephardic Jews, Jews from the other parts of the Middle East and even Occupied Palestine have been relegated to second-class citizens. Even people studying the records of graveyards refuse to acknowledge that underrepresented corpses are underrepresented because they couldn't be buried with the European colonizers.

So this is the hierarchy. And, since Israel is an arm of a greater fascism, obviously the people above the European Jews of Israel would be the Europeans themselves, who saw an opportunity to launder their consciences by giving the Jews they'd just tried to eradicate a physical place, far away from Europe and European hegemony, that we could then control and be used as an enforcer of the empire without the empire having to dirty its hands directly. France had already shown the workability of this in Algeria by letting us loose there. After the Holocaust, of course, Europe was eager to have such an attractive Final Solution. Jews now have a physical home to be returned to, in exchange we become the enforcers of the region. And we foment resistance globally, which is traced clearly back to the Jewish homeland and the Jews. So to get this resistance out of European territory, all that must be done is to move the Jews, the source of the danger, to Palestine. Neat, tidy, no longer ethnic cleansing because there's a land for us.

The Bund Abides

There was an informative discussion on the Yiddish discord server about why we've taken on the name "Bund". The original Bund was basically eliminated in the Holocaust, and, well, there have been some people carrying the banner since then at various times. But relying on "an unbroken historical line" is also something Fascism requires. So why use the name in the first place then? The Bund was a positive framing to "anti-Zionism". Rather than saying "Don't go to Palestine" it said "We're Jews right here". And this is one of the main guiding principles I think we follow. The term Bund is cognate to "Band". I'm a musician, I played in bands, this is a band of Jews who are Jewish (Yiddishkayt) right here (Doikayt). Doikayt and Philantropy

According to Jewish Currents , large donors are quietly dropping funding for organizations unrelated to Palestine or Jews in general. In October 2023, the Access Reproductive Care fund published a letter about the genocide in Palestine. Their overhead is covered primarily by small donors, but 1/3 of actual services have been provided by a large grant from Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade, this foundation allocated $1 million over 3 years, through 2024. After the ARC published their letter against the genocide, though, this foundation notified ARC the final payment would be made through a third party, and that it was the end of the grant. No more would be forthcoming. So, Zionism is channeling resources not only away from Jewish communities, but from the communities we live in as well, out of pure spite.
